All plastic trolley products are manufactured from high quality medium density food grade polyethylene. Polyethylene offers qualities including; good resistance to most acids, alkalis and chemicals; wide operating temperature range of -20º to +60ºc.; Durable – polyethylene products are very easy to clean and are ideal for washdown applications; Flexible – although polyethylene is flexible, we recommend support frames for large tanks when filled with liquid.
Although food grade polyethylene is used for every plastic trolley that is supplied from Trolley Selector, coloured tanks, bins and trucks may not be suitable for raw food usage. Additionally, some products are fitted with plywood bases so may not be suitable for some food related environments. Where plywood is not suitable we are usually able to fit plastic or galvanised bases.
The utmost care is taken to check dimensions and give the most accurate information possible, however, rotationally moulded products are subject to tolerances so dimensions quoted can only ever be nominal.
We offer a large range of standard colour finishes including red, blue, yellow, green, orange, white, natural, grey and black. We are also able to provide non-standard colours.

All Mailroom Trolleys are designed for use in the office mailroom environment. Each trolley is ideal for the distribution of stationery, post and other lightweight items. Mailroom Trolleys are a derivative of the shelf trolley with a slight modification. Mailroom trolleys use steel wire mesh to create compartments suitable for the sorting and distribution of mail. The mailroom trolley range consists of two or three basic designs each with a variety of options based on a theme.
The first range uses a standard up and over frame design to support a combination of storage baskets on two levels. These trolleys are similar to our Shelf Trolley range and have four swivel castors and operators handles at both ends. Each corner post is fitted with rotating buffers to provide protection to walls and doors. The second design uses a more upright frame design with the baskets designed so that they can be removed and hook on to the trolley. This second design has larger rear wheels and smaller front wheels to aid manoeuvrability.
Mailroom Trolleys are manufactured from a combination of tubular and wire mesh steel finished with an epoxy powder paint coat. Mailroom Trolleys are generally finished with a red frame and white wire mesh baskets.
A range of complimentary mailroom trolleys is available to suit our standard range of products. We also offer a bespoke range of products available to suit each of our clients individual requirements.
A Turntable Truck is similar to the platform truck in that it has a large flat area on four wheels with a handle allowing you to move large quantities of boxes or loose parts between two locations. In detail, the turntable truck is the first choice for many when it comes to moving larger and heavier items over longer distances and over uneven ground. The sheer diverse nature of the turntable truck means that it can be designed and constructed to suit a wide range of applications.
The basic turntable truck has a steel welded frame with four solid rubber or pneumatic tyred wheels located close to each corner. The rear wheels will be fitted to a solid axle and the front wheels fitted to a turntable steering mechanism allowing for increased manoeuvrability. The platform is usually manufactured from plywood and finished with a lacquer to protect it against any damage from liquids. The basic turntable truck has a handle fitted to the turntable steering mechanism which is connected to the front axle.
The range of turntable trucks increases with various size options. The standard platform starts at 900mm long x 500mm wide and can be as large as 2000mm long x 1000mm wide. There are options for the deck to be fitted with 200mm high plywood or steel sides or for the platform to have a mesh box fitted. The mesh box may then be fitted with lift off sides or half hinged sides to aid loading and unloading.
The standard range of turntable trucks is extensive, but not exhaustive; the sheer variety of applications makes way for the bespoke range of turntable trucks which allows for a whole host of different alternatives.
The basic principle of a maintenance trolley is the ability to be mobile for use within workshops and be flexible for the storage of tools and small parts. With this in mind, the range of maintenance trolleys available varies from a basic cupboard trolley with an internal shelf to a split trolley fitted with a cupboard and drawers. The standard maintenance / workshop trolleys are manufactured from a steel tubular and angle section frame with a steel panelled shell welded together to form a robust product with a high load capacity. Each maintenance trolley is fitted with four castors in a two fixed and two swivel castors with brakes formation and is moved easily with two large operators push / pull handles at one end of the trolley.
All maintenance trolleys are fitted with a beech multiplex worktop allowing for light duty bench work to be completed without leaving the current task area. The basic trolley has a double cupboard for the storage of medium to large items, with the remainder of the trolley range having a half width cupboard and drawers to the remaining half. All trolleys have a range of different depth drawers each fitted with trigger locks and operating handles for ease of use. The drawers are supplied empty as standard but have the option for a wide range of drawer inserts to be fitted to allow the efficient storage of tools.
The basic idea for a sack truck is that an item may be moved around without the need for any lifting or manoeuvring of the item by hand. This means that the idea behind a sack truck is that the shoe of the sack truck slides underneath the object being moved. The sack truck is then rotated around the wheel centres to lift the load from the ground. The load is then moved to its new location and unloaded using the same technique as loading but in reverse. Sack trucks are designed for manoeuvring loads over short distances where other trolleys or trucks would encounter problems due to the nature of having four wheels. The sack truck has two wheels and is therefore capable of overcoming small steps and kerbs etc. The sack truck can also be fitted with load straps to ensure that the load remains on the sack truck whilst in motion.
Sack Trucks are usually manufactured from steel and are finished with a paint coat. Sack trucks are also produced from plastic and stainless steel providing other unique advantages such as light in weight or useful in a clean / hygienic environment. Sack truck wheels are normally solid rubber but may also be provided with pneumatic tyres for operations over uneven ground or gravelled areas. Sack Trucks are manufactured from tubular and angle steel sections welded together. The back is normally open but can be fitted with steel mesh or even solid steel plate. The shoe or foot of the sack truck is as standard a criss cross of flat bar steel but can be provided with plate steel if required. The back of the sack truck may be supplied as a ‘v-section’ to allow loads such as cylinders to be moved without fear of the load rolling off. The sack truck may also be retro fitted with protective taping to allow the easy loading of white goods such as fridges and freezers.
Sack trucks are useful for most operations as they are light in weight and small enough to store behind or on top of loads being transported. Where the standard sack truck falters is stairs, so for this, a triple wheel star is fitted to each side of the sack truck to allow the sack truck to negotiate staircases with ease. On some sack truck models, a wheel lock out device may be fitted to allow the user to rest during a flight of stairs. In conclusion, the sack truck offers each user with a tailored solution that meets individual needs with a product that performs to high standards.
Why would you need a shelf trolley when a platform truck does the same job you might ask. Well, a shelf trolley has more than one level on which to put items. The shelf trolley is a derivative of the platform truck but has multiple shelves which are specifically designed for the movement of smaller items in large quantities. The basic design of the shelf trolley is flat bed with four vertical posts which are designed to support the upper shelves. The top shelf will normally have either an inbuilt handle or a welded tubular handle. These operators handles are normally fitted to one end, but can be fitted to both ends and / or sides depending on the clients requirements.
Shelf Trolleys are normally produced from mild steel and finished with an epoxy powder paint coat, but can also be finished in stainless steel or plastic. The shelves are usually made from steel but can also be finished with wood. Shelf Trolleys can also have fixed, removable or reversible shelves providing a multitude of storage options for the client.
One of the range of trolleys available from Trolley Selector has two shelves which have a 45mm upstand around three sides of each shelf but the fourth side has a drop flange to allow products to slide onto the shelf. This is particularly useful when loading heavy objects.
Shelf Trolleys are generally supplied from 800mm long x 600mm wide to 1200mm long x 800mm wide but these are standard items and encompass a wide range of applications. Non standard products are available depending on the clients individual specification.
Shelf Trolleys are more useful in facilities such as hospitals, medical centres, offices and smaller workshops.

The popular mistake with most trolleys is finding the right one that has the right size tray or basket which will suit what you need to put in it. But is that all you will need to check. These tips will help you select the right trolley for your needs.
1) Do you have tight doorways, corridors etc – this is worth considering as most trolleys are manufactured from a welded steel frame. Check the overall dimensions of any trolley before buying.
2) Are there steps, lips or uneven ground to overcome. Check the size of the wheels and what type of tyre is fitted. Remember a simple rule. Solid rubber tyres are better for flat ground, usually associated with internal applications. Pneumatic tyres are better for external applications where the load can be higher but the terrain harder to navigate.
3) The deck size is large enough to accommodate the items being transported, but can you get your hands in there to lift the items out. Allow for extra space.
Ok, so the range on the www.trolley-selector website isn’t huge. There’s approx 400 products but realistically, if the product that suits your needs isn’t there, there may as well be a million of them. So, what do you need. Well, a good starting point is an idea. If it’s a product you already have and can’t get it from your previous supplier, take a photo of it and email it to the office. If you don’t have a camera, draw the trolley and fax it to the office. If you haven’t got time to draw the trolley, ring our office and a member of our sales team will talk you through the basic steps of trolley construction. Before you do any of that though, a few pointers to help; Is the trolley made from steel or plastic, is it folding, does it have moving parts (other than the wheels). What is the function of the trolley. Does the trolley need to be operated over uneven ground. Bear all of these in mind. When you contact the sales office, please give as much information as possible to help us with your trolley ideas.
